Todays Tidbits

Well, Today the weather is not quite so great as the past few days but heck, I am above ground so all is good!
Friday Mary and I continued my househunting and we went up to Chiloquin and looked at a couple of places.  I liked the location of one over the other but the view right on the lake was great!   Would still like to stay in Klamath Falls if possible but we will see.
Yesterday all the Klamath Falls Charming Chicks met at Faiths' house for a girly day.  We all brought finger foods and some of us had wine and we did facials, and pedicures and had a great time.  Oh we also did the hands in parafin wax to soften and had lots of fun.  Here is Mary and myself with a skin mask on and our gloved hands that have been waxed.  We look so lovely dont you think? lol  By the way Cheryl, you win as you can see and I owe you the bottle of wine. LOL
Ok now for a great recipe to have sometime.

        Drunken Chicken Tacos
2 med. diced onions     3-4 Tlbs. Olive Oil    1 large can diced Ortega Chlis
2 limes quarted, unpeeled          1 Heap.Tlbs. Chopped Garlic
4-6 cups cooked chicken meat  (if canned do not drain)
1Heap.Tlbs. Chicken Base or I use boullion
2 shots of Tequila

Saute onions in olive oil until opaque, add green chilis, salt and pepper, garlic
and limes. Simmer for 2 minutes, add chicken, chicken base and tequilla. Simmer for 30 minutes, breaking up chicken as you stir.  Cook down, uncovered until meat is juicy but not runny.  If meat gets too dry add chicken broth, or additional base with water and continue to simmer.  Remove limes and discard.  Serve with black olives, cheese, sour cream and tomatoes rolled into flour tortillas.  Guacamole is a special topping for this taco too.
Acompany with mex. rice and green chili and lime refried beans.

sew and sew

Well, I have my quilt and batting and backing all together and just need to quilt it now, However I have another project I am making for my daughters birthday and can't share it yet or she will know what it is. I decided to finish that project as time is running out and then go back to my quilt. I got my haircut last Friday and am not pleased. No one is harder to please then another hairstylist. With a little nip her and there I will have it looking right. I bought my first items ever on e-bay yesterday. One was an auction item and when I got on it just had 10 minutes left. I bought fabric (my newest addiction). My son and his wife have a vineyard and I got 2 different yards of fabric with wine bottles on them. I am also looking for fabric with grapes and even pictures of vineyards to make a special quilt for them for Christmas. It is just going to take a while to get exactly what I need.
Well my truck has been acting up a little so I took it to a mechanic last Thursday and am still waiting to hear what is wrong. If I don'e hear soon I am going to go pick it up and just take it to the dealer. I know they will charge more but they will do it faster and have all parts. I don't like being dependant on someone else for transportation,.
Hey, did everyone remember to set their clocks ahead?
I got up Sunday and was taking my sweet time when Mary came into kitchen and said you know it isn' 8am it is 9. Wow! I had to move so fast, take my shower and all to get ready for church. I remembered all about it Saturday afternoon and evening but forgot when I crawled into bed.
Last night I gave Gidget a bath and brushed her out. She is getting long and looking like a real shi-tzu. I like her long but rarely see her this way as in the summer keep her so short because of heat and stickers. Before I clip her I will take another picture of her to share. I have created a monster with Cheech the calf. He was becoming unfriendly so I went out with carrots and apples and he just loves them and now stands at the front of the house moowing for his daily treats. Chong however doesn't want them at all. They are so different. I broke down and bought a 25 lb. bag of carrots and yesterday went to feed him his treats and now he didn't want them. He better like them today or we will be eating carrot stew, carrot salad, carrot juice, and carrot cake. lol

Gidget

Hi There,
My name is Gidget and I am a Shi-tzu. I love lots of attention and kids. I get so mad because I have to stay off the deck and can't go out to see the calves and goats. There is one of our 4 goats that I don't like for some reason, so I want to chase him but then I get in trouble. I love my bath and getting brushed alot. I do tricks too. I love the country life, there are lots of things to see such as wild kittens and joggers and lots of ducks and geese around here. My life would be just about perfect if I could just go chase everything.

fun week here at the farm

Well I have had an interesting time. I wanted to keep our calves friendly and lately they have been hanging out in the pasture and not coming around untill we put the hay out. So I thought I'd get out Gidgets stiff brush and give them a good scratching all over. One of the calves just loved it and let me groom him for over an hour and streatched out his little head so high and was very happy. The other calf, Cheech wouldn't let me touch him and I thought whats up with him? So I went into the house and got an apple and cut it up and went back to feed him. He absolutely loved the apples and the other calf that I had just groomed for so long didn't even take a taste. I was so excited that I was bonding back with Cheech so I went back for more apples and fed then to him. When they were all gone I started to walk away and he butted me so I turned and pet him some more and each time I tried to walk away he followed me and nudged me a little. Well I was still some distance from the house and now he wouldn't let me leave. He now weighs about 350 pounds so I was picturing in my mind being overpowered by this huge thing. I took little babysteps all the way back to the house with calf in tow. I now had a calf on the front porch moowing for more treats. The next day I went out and he saw me and came running over expecting more treats. I went into the house and was out of apples so I grabbed some carrots and went outside where he was waiting for me along with the other calf and the 4 pet goas that live here. Well, he loves carrots too! Once again the other calf didn't want anything to do with the treat but all the goats wanted to see what was going on and eventually all 4 goats and the one huge calf were trying to beat out eachother for the carrots I held out. It was funny at the time.

I have been working on my first quilt after taking lessons and the Tater Patch and my quilt top is finished. Thursday we take our tops in to have a lesson on borders. I am so anxious to finish it.

Mary and I went to town to do errands. (every time we go to town is an experience and some times frightning.
We were going downtown and I see this man waving his arms at us and pointing up the street. I asked Mary (who was driving) Whats up? next thing I realize he is trying to warn us we are going the wrong way on a busy one way street. I look ahead and see all sorts of cars coming at us in both lanes. Luckily Mary made a right turn just before the cars got to us. That was close!@!! We checked and there were no one way signs off the street we had originally turned from. Yikes, not good.

Now when I leave the house to go to town Billy Bird not only says bye bye I have to go to work now , he also has thrown in you be a good boy! I can't help but laugh at the things he comes up with.

grooming Cheech and Chong to keep them friendly has become a daily chore. The calves now are about 350 pounds and were starting to not want our company so now I brush them and have created a monster with Cheech. I have discovered he loves apples and carrots. Chong however wont even smell the goodies. Now Cheech stands in front of the front porch moowing at me for his treats. After I give him his treats it is hard to get back to the house and he is very determined to find more in my pockets.
