What a gorgeous quilt!!!

Isn't this quilt just amazing?  It belongs to my friend Ruth, who I am housesitting for and was made by her grandmother.

This entire quilt is all handmade, no machine girls.
The birds are all different and it is all crosstitched embroidered.

The hand quilting is just wonderful.  I would love to be able to do this great someday.

I love all the different detail in each area of the quilt she did a different hand quilt pattern.  Just beautiful.

End of another House and Pet Sitting trip

I have been housestitting and Pet sitting again at my Pastors house for 10 days.  Pastor Kevin and his wife Ruth along with 17 other members of our church went to Mexico on a mission to help the chursh down there and they will all be back tomorrow evening.  They just phoned to say they are back in the States and we are all so glad and thankful that they remained safe.  They will stay in Los Angeles tonight .

This is Dottie (left) and Skipper.
They are great little dogs except when Skipper jumps the fence to explore the neighborhood.  They are keeping me warm at night as they both want on the bed with me so I get one on each side.  These little guys have a way of crowding in on you when your sleeping but I just love them.

This was looking up the hill while it was snowing earlier.  Now the sun is shining but by end of day I am sure we will have more snow.  I just wish the weather would make up its mind!

More snow for this winter

This is what I woke up to this morning.  These deer sure look healthy and they are in the middle of town as I am housesitting for my pastor and his wife again.  This time they will be gone for 10 days.  They are caravaning to Mexico with a group that is helping out with a church there.

Now the dogs (Dottie and Skip) do not like these deer invading what they perceive to be their territory.  At 7 am they were barking like crazy and it was only these deer looking for something to nibble on.
I myself am not a hunter but I do know that when hunters see a sight like this their trigger finger starts to itch and then they wish it was open season. haha  I could hear gunshots this morning and I sure hope no one was shooting these beautiful creatures.
This is one of those get a book, or a sewing project and snuggle up by the fire and stay cozy all day. Think I will make a cup of tea now.

We see all the new fabrics, whats on Sale, Whats the latest with the Bernina Dealers and have coffee and cookies but most of all lots of laughter. Today we had alot of show and tell so I am putting on here some of the great quilts that were brought today.

My first "ouch" in my old truck

Last Thursday I had a mishap in my truck on the ice.  I have lived on icey roads and many worse than this area.  Most were winding and steep and I never had a problkem , but somehow last Thursday I hit the backend of a school bus on a flat level road. Thank God no injuries and bus was not damaged but my truck was towed and will be costing me over 1700 to fix.  I was shaken up and upset but am ok now.  I didn't recieve a citation as the roads were all iced up and it was snowing.

Latest block from Saturday Sampler

this is the latest block on our Saturday Sampler.  It came out ok but was not easy.  This entire quilt will all be a variety of baskets and some blocks have large ones and some are small.  To learn I use the fabric that comes with the blocks but when I do it for real, I will use my own fabrics and colors.  I will do an update soon and show you all the blocks we have done so far for this quilt sampler.

Billy Bird and Mom brush calves

Billy Bird and Mom brush calves
grooming Cheech and Chong to keep them friendly has become a daily chore. The calves now are about 350 pounds and were starting to not want our company so now I brush them and have created a monster with Cheech. I have discovered he loves apples and carrots. Chong however wont even smell the goodies. Now Cheech stands in front of the front porch moowing at me for his treats. After I give him his treats it is hard to get back to the house and he is very determined to find more in my pockets.
